Headline : Belgium,Iran Islamic Republic of : Iran and Belgium port authorities sign MoU to boost trade
Summary : Iran's Shahid Rajaee Port Authority, which regulates Bandar Abbas port, and the Belgian Antwerp Port Authority have entered a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to boost trade between the two regions.

The collaboration will require to share information on statistics and port development projects, as well as collaborating in the field of training, among others.

Bandar Abbas port represents 90% of the in and outgoing containers of Iran and almost half of the 200m tonnes of freight managed by 11 Iranian ports put together.

The MoU, inked on Monday, will run for a 5-year period, after which it can be extended.

CEO of Antwerp Port Authority, Eddy Bruyninckx, said: "We are restoring our trading relations with Iran, a country with great economic growth potential that is also a gateway to neighbouring countries."
